A Mano - Trendy Without Trying Too Hard

Last night I tried the new hip "modern Italian" spot in my 2nd favorite neighborhood in San Francisco (Dogpatch being #1), Hayes Valley. From "Back of the House" restaurant group (Super Duper, Belga, Beretta) you'll find A Mano. We showed up at about 6:15pm and the place was buzzing, but we didn't have to wait for a spot as they have long communal tables that seat quite a few people. The waitstaff was super friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. The place is gorgeous - light, airy and colorful. Completely different vibe from Beretta , even if the Pizza is reminiscent.

A small detail I noticed about the place is they really went all out on their glassware and cutlery. The stemless wine glass that my Rosé was served in was pretty unique. I am a huge fan of stemless, so these are a must have!

On to the food!

My Menu

Insalata - Gem lettuce, fennel, radish, anchovy, ricotta salata, capers

Fava Bean - Tempura fava bean with aioli

Pizza - Margherita, tomato, fior di latte, basil

Pasta - Campanelle, wild broccoli, garlic, chili, nicoise olives, freshly grated parmesan.

The salad was seriously delicious. Super light, salty, crunchy, tangy with crazy fresh lettuce and radish. I could eat it daily. The Pizza, incredibly simple just the way a good margherita should be. Perfect sauce to cheese ratio. Lastly, the pasta! I can't say I have had this shape before (and I have had a lot of pasta) but the name of the curled up little pieces is called is "Campanelle."  The management team told me their title comes from it's "bell" looking like shape, bell in Italian is campana hence campanelle. The texture of the pasta was super fun, and the flavors on point! Don't plan on kissing anyone after though, as the cooks are generous with the garlic (shavings).

Overall, great place for any sort of occasion wether it be date night, a friends dinner or family time. Enjoy!

Eat at "All Good Pizza" Trust.

I moved to the Bayview about a year ago after living in the Dogpatch for the last 6 years. For those who don't know, The Bayview is inherently known as a place people don't want to go. Not me, I have always loved it on 3rd street, so much so that I laid some serious roots down.

The area has it's ups and downs, but one of it's many ups is "All Good Pizza." The foot truck + outdoor area right next to Flora Grub, the overpriced, hipster, but incredibly worthhhh it, nursery.

The vibe reminds me that of Austin, TX, as it's a casual vibe, but you can't help but feel cool being there. When it's warm out, you can sit outside and enjoy the weather. They allow dogs and even babies (if you're into babies, or have babies/kids). The decor is eclectic, ranging from a massive round couch to tall and short tables. Being surrounded by all of the beautiful colors and plant life puts a smile on your face.

 Cuddle up!

What's even better is the people that work there. Super friendly, funny and generous. Now to the important part, the food! I am a sucker for Pizza, especially thin crust. Mix that with some fun ingredients and you had me at...pizza. We ordered 3 things, 4 if you include the Rosé (http://www.angelsandcowboyswines.com) . Oh, and he threw in a free Pizza because "The Special" didn't come out the way he liked it. Tasted perfect to me!

Gorgonzola, asparagus, spinach

PESTO SALAMI (I got this without salami and added ricotta, since I am a veg)
House made pesto, Molinari salami, fresh basil, fior di latte, mozzarella

Roasted crimini mushrooms, black truffle salt, mozzarella,
grana padano, fresh thyme, extra virgin olive oil, fresh garlic

Shaved fennel, pine nuts, lemon zest, parmesan reggiano, pink himalayan salt

I have to say, the Pizza was delicious. We ate 2 pizzas in one sitting and took the 3rd home, which was consumed within 2 hours. All Good Pizza is the type of place you don't want to leave. The area screams "just hang out," which is exactly what we did. If you ever can't get ahold of me, it's likely I will be there. Hit up All Good Pizza, and let me know what you thought of it!
